CAS September 25 - Kate Tucker

Fall is officially in the air. With the chill of the southern Autumn lingering in the distance, what better way to bring in the forthcoming season sure to be full of bonfires, football and pots of chili than with your pals at Cause A Scene and another night chocked full with great music? Join us this Wednesday evening on the east side of the Cumberland at Mad Donna’s Music Loft for three fantastic pop-rock acts, all three of which are Nashville transplants.

Fronting the evening’s lineup is the indie rock outfit, Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden. Originally formed in Seattle, WA in the winter of 2007, where the band recorded their self-titled debut album. Their single from the album went on to top the blog charts and received heavy rotation on Starbucks in-store playlists. Songs from the album have continued to be featured in several television shows and independent films. In the years following, the band disbanded to follow different pursuits. It wasn’t until 2012 after relocating to Nashville that Kate Tucker, along with original member Nic Danielson, decided to pick up the Sons of Sweden project again. The rejuvenated Sons of Sweden consists of new recruits Wes Chandler (guitars), Ethan Place (drums), and Matthew Thompson (bass), with Tucker at the helm, and together they are now hard at work on the band’s long awaited follow up album. Kate Tucker and the Sons just reached their Kickstarter goal this summer, in efforts to help fund the new record, officially titled The Shape, The Color, The Feel, as well as a series of short films surrounding the project. The band also released Long View, a song sampler exclusively available on Noisetrade, which includes songs from their forthcoming album along with live versions of previously released tracks. Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden hope to release their sophomore effort at the end of this year.

Also on the bill for the evening is alt-pop act Trenton and electro pop duo Brotherun. Originally formed in Hudson, FL by singer/songwriter Ryan Courtney, with the purpose of being a collaborative band effort, Trenton gradually developed into Courtney’s solo project. Now located in Nashville, Courtney has spent the better part of the last two years writing, recording and producing his recent EP release Dreamers. Trenton is slated for an acoustic set this Wednesday.

Originally from Arizona, Brotherun is the first collaborative effort of brothers Nick and Trevor Tillery. The project was formed in the brother’s early adult years by email correspondence, despite growing up in the same household. Now located in Music City, Brotherun is fresh off the release of their debut, self-titled EP, which dropped earlier this year. Armed with their own unique brand of indie-pop, Brotherun is quickly beginning to stand out in Nashville’s already eclectic music scene.

Don’t miss out on another night of great CAS music! Doors open at 7:00 PM and the show starts at 8:00 PM at Mad Donna’s Music Loft in East Nashville. Tickets are $5 at the door.
