There are a handful of artists that immediately jump to the top of my personal “must listen” list, and Jack White is certainly at the top of that list, as I am sure is the same for any rock n’ roll loving American. Naturally my heart skipped a beat when White debuted the first sample of his forthcoming sophomore solo effort, Lazaretto. The track, titled “High Ball Stepper,” is an instrumental track ripe with expected wailing guitars and subdued piano interludes.

Following his 2012 debut solo record Blunderbuss; Lazaretto is due to release June 10th via White’s own Third Man Records and Columbia. You can pre-order a limited edition copy of the new record through April 30th by signing up for the Third Man Record’s Vault. The special edition copy comes stocked with a blue-and-white vinyl pressing, a 7-inch featuring demo cuts of Lazaretto’s “Alone In My Home” and “Entitlement,” as well as 40-page hardcover book including lyrics, musical notation and photos.

With his other band, The Dead Weather, also due to release their new album in 2015, White also has a handful of summer festival dates scheduled, including Bonnaroo, Forecastle Festival and Governors Ball. That being said White certainly has a busy 2014 ahead of him and it has only just begun. I for one couldn’t be happier. Check out the video for “High Ball Stepper” below and rock out in style.

Just last Friday, The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas debuted some of his new material from his new band The Voidz. Along with playing a handful of songs from his debut solo effort, “Phrazes for the Young,” as well as some Strokes throwbacks, Casablancas and The Voidz played four new tracks from their forthcoming LP. This is a real treat, as we at CAS welcome anything from the mind of Casablancas. Below you can see them perform their song “Dr. Acula.” Rock out and enjoy!

Just last week, one of our favorite bands on the indie electronic circuit, Sir Sly, released their own rendition of current hip hop titan Drake’s song “Marvin’s Room.” Playing the song in heavy rotation in their van while on their recent North American tour with St. Lucia, the Los Angeles based trio vowed that if they were to ever cut a cover, it would be the song that got them through those long hours on the road.

Sir Sly released their self recorded debut EP, Gold, just last year and much to our approval, the band is beginning to get the attention they deserve and they have no intentions of slowing their pace. Having recently wrapped their tour with St. Lucia, the band announced earlier today that they they will be supporting English pop rockers The 1975 on their upcoming North American tour, due to kick off next month. Check out Sir Sly’s official website and Facebook page for tour dates.

Now, sit back and enjoy this killer tune!

We’ve been listening to this girl for quite some time now, and while 2013 was Lorde’s year, you know you’re doing something right when Springsteen covers your material. While on tour in New Zealand this weekend, The Boss opened his first night in Auckland with a cover of Lorde’s blow up single “Royals,” with just a guitar and a harmonica. And he rocked it! Watch and enjoy!
